KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Felician University softball team fell victim to host Kutztown University twice during Tuesday afternoon's non-conference doubleheader at North Campus Field. Kutztown capture the first game, 9-1, and won Game 2, 10-2, with both contests shorted to five innings by the NCAA eight-run rule.

Felician (8-21) was playing its final non-conference date of 2019. The Golden Falcons have eight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheaders remaining on their schedule, five at home and three on the road. They travel to Dominican (N.Y.) College on Thursday for a 2:30 p.m. twinbill in Orangeburg, N.Y.

Sophomore first baseman Jenna Lipowski (Nanticoke, Pa.) went 4 for 5 with three doubles and drove in seven runs on the day for Kutztown (17-12).

The Golden Bears struck for three runs in the bottom of first inning of Game 1. Senior Cheyenne Jones (Levittown, Pa.) capped the rally with a two-run single. Felician sliced into the deficit in the second when Jaimie Parisi (South Hackensack, N.J.) reached on a one-out infield hit, stole second base, moved up on a single and came home on Jackie Ribaudo's (Staten Island, N.Y.) sacrifice fly.

But the Golden Falcons could not do further damage to the pitching line of Kutztown right-hander Amber Brugger (Levittown, Pa.) (5-4). The freshman gave up six hits, all singles, over her five innings. She issued two walks, but Felician left seven runners on base.

A three-run double by Lipowski highlighted Kutztown's five-run fourth, giving the hosts an 8-1 edge. Brugger retired Felician in order in the fifth, and the game ended in the bottom of the frame on Sara Keeny's (Warminster, Pa.) sacrifice fly.

Golden Falcon freshman Trinity Garcia (West Covina, Calif.) (5-7) also went the distance in the pitching circle. She allowed seven hits and four walks with one strikeout, and all nine runs were earned. Ribaudo and Mia Montoya (Las Vegas, Nev.) were both 1 for 1 for Felician, the hits for which came from six different players. Lipowski finished 2 for 2 with four RBI and Jones was 2 for 2 with two RBI for Kutztown.

Felician jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in Game 2. Junior Nicole Spiegelberg (Blauvelt, N.Y.) lined a one-out, two-run single. But the advantage was short-lived, as the Golden Bears rallied against freshman Martarina Crumb (Branchville, N.J.) for a three-spot in the home half of the first, powered by a Lipowski two-run double.

Leading, 5-2, after three frames, Kutztown plated two runs in the fourth, then put a halt to the game with a three-run fifth. The Golden Bears reached Crumb (3-12) for 14 hits, four by Keeny from the leadoff spot.

Kutztown freshman Bridget Bailey (Norwood, Pa.) (8-4) pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the victory. The Golden Bears picked up four extra base hits, including a home run by Dani Nordyk (Orange, Conn.). Spiegelberg was 3 for 3 and Parisi and Steph Donah (Clark, N.J.) doubled for Felician.

Felician finished with a 4-15 won-lost record in regular-season non-conference games in 2019.
