Albano Wins Monmouth Invitational

HOLMDEL, N.J. -- Felician College senior Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, N.J.) began preparation for defense of his Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference individual title in fine fashion on Saturday morning, winning the Monmouth University Invitational at Holmdel Park.

Despite a revised course which took the competitors through Holmdel's notorious "Bowl Mile" twice, Albano posted a five-mile time of 26 minutes, 16 seconds, in his 2012 debut. The victory was a comfortable one, as he crossed the finish line 23 seconds ahead of runner-up Khari Bowen of the host Hawks. The race contained 68 entrants.

The Golden Falcons settled for a fourth-place team result against stiff competition, as no other Golden Falcon ended up in the top 20. Senior Tim Kicha (Saddle Brook, N.J.) was 21st in 28:17, followed closely by sophomore Keenan Huggins-Filozof (Farmingdale, N.J.) in 24th with a 28:22.

Also scoring for Felician were senior Taylor Trumbetti (Montvale, N.J.) (34th, 28:41) and sophomore Joe Eagan (Haddonfield, N.J.) (45th, 29:08).

New York University put seven runners among the top 11 finishers and won the team title with 32 points.
