RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College women's and men's cross-country teams will compete in the 2015 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship meet on Sunday, October 25. The event will be hosted by the University of the Sciences at Belmont Plateau, inside Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. The men's 8,000-meter race is slated for 9 a.m., with the women's 5,000-meter competition scheduled for 10 a.m.
The Felician men will be looking to improve upon last year's eighth-place finish, while the Golden Falcon women hope to exceed their seventh-place result in 2014. The men's team has won nine CACC championships, while the women's squad seeks its first. Both teams are led by first-year head coach Rob DeCarlo Jr.
The top 15 individual finishers in each race will be named All-CACC. Directions to Belmont Plateau are available at http://www.devilsathletics.com/information/directions/Campus_Venues (scroll down to final entry). The CACC also plans to offer free live streaming video in and around the finish line at http://tinyurl.com/qgjzzdr.
The Felician men have been led by sophomore Mike Secreti (Paramus, N.J./Paramus). A two-time CACC Runner of the Week in 2015, he was the league's Student-Athlete of the Month for September. After finishing third in the CACC Championship and earning all-league honors in 2014, he is a strong contender for the 2015 Runner of the Year award.
The Golden Falcons will enter five runners. Freshman Andre Francisco (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) has emerged as Felician's No. 2 man, and senior Aiden Lynch (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) has once again been a dependable No. 3. Sophomore Fernando Gomez (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) and junior Connor Gillespie (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) round out the line-up.
Philadelphia University is the defending CACC men's champion.
The Felician women enter the championship having lost six seniors from a year ago. Junior Sabrina Roldan (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) has re-claimed the top spot in the team's pack after winning all-league honors in 2013. Senior Michelle Camacho (Moonachie, N.J./Wood-Ridge) and sophomore Kate Rohsler (Fredon, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) have been consistent performers as well.
Senior Sam Kamphausen (East Rutherford, N.J./Becton) and junior Natasha Gonel (Howell, N.J./Howell) provide some experience at the back end of the pack. Sophomore walk-on Dominique Frascino (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Boro) will experience her first conference championship race.
Philadelphia won the 2014 CACC title, and enters this year's race ranked No. 6 in the NCAA Division II East Region.
