HOPKINTON, N.H. – Four members of the Felician College women's cross-country team received a preview of the 2015 NCAA Regional Championship course by participating in the Bruce Kirsh Cup on Friday afternoon. The race was hosted by Franklin Pierce University at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds.
A field of 101 runners traversed a 4,000-meter course on Friday. FPU will host the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship at Hopkinton Fairgrounds on Sunday, November 8. That event will be contested on a 6,000-meter course.
Junior Sabrina Roldan (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) was the only Golden Falcon to finish in the top half of Friday's field. She crossed the finish line in 16 minutes, 14 seconds and placed 44th. Not far behind was Felician senior Michelle Camacho (Moonachie, N.J./Wood-Ridge), whose 16:37 placed her 61st.
Also completing the race for the Golden Falcons were juniors Kate Rohsler (Fredon, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) (87th, 17:35) and Natasha Gonel (Howell, N.J./Howell) (94th, 18:47). Felician did not receive a team score.
Felician was the only Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference member to travel to the event. The nine complete teams all hailed from the Northeast-10 Conference, including four regionally-ranked squads.
Merrimack College, the region's eighth-ranked team, won the event by scoring 66 points, eight fewer than runner-up Saint Anselm College. Southern New Hampshire junior Laura O'Hanlon was the individual champion with a time of 14:31.
