BRONX, N.Y. – The women's cross-country team participated in the first Felician College intercollegiate athletics event of 2013-14 on Saturday morning, placing three runners in the top 50 at the Fordham University Fiasco/Ed Joyce Memorial at Van Cortlandt Park. Felician placed eighth out of 11 non-Division I schools.
Junior Sylvia Bialy (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) led the Golden Falcon pack, traversing the 5,000-meter course in 22 minutes, six seconds to finish 32nd out of 117 small-college runners. Freshman Katie Rohsler (Fredon, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) turned in a 22:25 in her collegiate debut and placed 40th, and junior Andrea Sarracino (Wood-Ridge, N.J./St. Mary-Rutherford) was a third Felician competitor under 23 minutes, crossing the finish line 50th with a 22:43.
The other two scoring positions in the Golden Falcon line-up were claimed by juniors Lianne Rossi (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) (78th, 24:18) and Samantha Kamphausen (East Rutherford, N.J./Becton Regional) (101st, 25:59).
Felician was second out of four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schools in attendance. The Golden Falcons' 217 points were nine behind seventh-place Dowling College and 50 ahead of Chestnut Hill College in ninth.
East Stroudsburg University won the non-Division I portion of the event with 32 points, and ESU's Kim Wernerspach was the individual champion in 19:05. On the D-I side, the host Rams emerged victorious, with their 55 points bettering the 68 of runner-up Monmouth University, and the University of Hartford's Megan Barry captured the individual crown with an 18:38.
