Women's Cross Country Begins Season At Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. -- Sophomore Sylvia Bialy (Lodi, N.J.) was the frontrunner for Felician College as the Golden Falcon women's cross-country team opened its season in adverse conditions on Saturday morning at the Fordam University Fiasco, held at Van Cortlandt Park.

Bialy was the only Felician entrant to place among the top half of the competitors in the women's non-Division I race. As the field fought heavy rain and winds, she finished 65th out of 136 runners, traversing the 5,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 28 seconds.

Sophomore Lianne Rossi (Nutley, N.J.) placed 118th in 26:15, crossing the finish line just ahead of classmate Andrea Sarracino (Wood-Ridge, N.J.) (119th, 26:16). Also competing for the Golden Falcons was Samantha Kamphausen (East Rutherford, N.J.) (130th, 28:50).

Rowan University won the event with 31 points, while Rowan senior Danielle Czohla was the indivual champion in 19:19. Felician did not receive a team score.
