Youthful Women's X-C Squad Completes Season With Regional Appearance

BOSTON -- The Felician College women's cross-country team completed the 2011 season by competing in the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship on Sunday. The meet was held at Franklin Park and hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Running five freshmen, Felician finished in 27th place in the team standings, scoring 798 points. The Golden Falcons were 60 points behind 26th-place Holy Family University. The race was 6,000 meters, one kilometer longer than most regular-season meets.

Sylvia Bialy (Lodi, NJ) led the Felician contingent on the day, finishing in 132nd place by completing the course in 27 minutes, 21 seconds. Lianne Rossi (Nutley, NJ) shaved more than a minute off of her only other 6K time this season, placing 159th in 29:26.

Also competing for Felician were Zharde Sellona (Aliso Viejo, CA) (177th, 33:11), Aimee Lopez (Riverbank, CA) (180th, 33:25), and Taylor Parker (Surrey, B.C.) (182nd, 36:50).

Stonehill College won the regional championship with 57 points, and second-place Bentley University (99) also advanced to the NCAA D-II National Championships. American International College junior Jeptui Cherutich was the individual winner in 21:54.
