BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Felician University women's volleyball team came up on the short end of a 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-13) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference decision to host Concordia (N.Y.) College on Saturday afternoon at the Meyer Athletic Center. The victory allowed Concordia (5-13, 5-12 CACC) two sweep the two-match season series between the schools.
Senior Jenny Martin (Simi Valley, Calif.) had eight kills and 10 assists and sophomore Thalia Hoyos (Caguas, Puerto Rico) eight kills and eight digs for a balanced Clipper offense. Junior Baylei Furman (Kaneohe, Hawaii) led Felician (4-20, 2-15) with five kills.
Concordia jumped out to leads of 7-2 and 16-6 and cruised to a Set 1 victory. The second set was even, 6-6, after a Furman ace before the Clippers captured the next nine rallies to pull away. Similarly, Felician led, 4-2 in Set 3. Concordia won the next nine points, including three kills by Martin, and never trailed again.
The Clippers hit .272 on the day and held Felician to a negative attack percentage. Anna Piedel (Garfield, N.J.) put down a season-high four kills, all in the third set, for the Golden Falcons.
Felician concludes its home schedule with a 7 p.m. match against Caldwell University on Wednesday.
