RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Molloy College posted a team .351 attack percentage in its 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-17) non-conference women's volleyball victory over host Felician College on Thursday night at Job Gymnasium.
Molloy (8-16) pulled away from the hosts in the middle stages of each set. In the first, the Lions scored 13 consecutive points to turn a 11-10 lead into a 24-10 advantage. Molloy converted a 9-8 deficit into a 18-13 advantage and went on to a Set 2 victory, and similarly, went from trailing 7-6 in the third set to leading 18-11 before closing out the match.
Junior Jenna Matesic (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) was Felician's only hitter in double figures in kills with 10. She added seven digs while hitting .375. Senior Ashlee DiSalvo (Batavia, NY/Batavia) topped all players in the match with 16 digs.
Molloy received 19 kills and a .562 attack percentage from freshman Sam Berna (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa). Setter Kerry McDonald (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park Memorial) posted 29 assists and 11 digs.
Felician concludes its 2011 home schedule by entertaining Holy Family University and Queens (N.Y.) College in a Senior Day tri-match on Saturday beginning at noon.
