RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College freshman Kristen Toropiw (Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced on Monday.
Toropiw, a 5-foot-7 defender, started all three games at stopper during Felician's 3-0 week. She scored her first two collegiate goals, including the eventual game-winner in the 50th minute, in the Golden Falcons' regular season-ending 3-1 victory at Nyack College on Sunday. She also played every minute of the three victories as Felician allowed one goal on the week while scoring 10.
Toropiw started all 18 games for Felician this season with two goals and one assist. She helped lead the Golden Falcons to a team 1.31 goals-against average and six victories by shutout. Toropiw, who shared the honor with Megan Ferrera of Caldwell College, is a 2011 graduate of Hopatcong High.
Also on Monday, Felician junior midfielder JoJo Pisani (Wyckoff, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights) was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after recording three goals and an assist on the week.
Felician (11-6-1, 9-3 CACC), a member of NCAA Division II, lost in the first round of the CACC Tournament today, 3-1, to Dominican (N.Y.) College. The Golden Falcons finished in second place in the conference regular-season standings.
