LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Felician College women's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over visiting Caldwell College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action Tuesday afternoon at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. With the victory, Felician secured sole possession of second place in the 13-team CACC and the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament.

Under fourth-year head coach Thomas Notte, Felician (9-5-1, 8-3 CACC) has qualified for the CACC playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. The second-place finish is the best for the Golden Falcons since winning the league's regular-season title in 2001. Felician, which has two regular-season contests remaining later this week, will host first-round tournament action on Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. at Lyndhurst Rec, with the opponent to be determined.

Caldwell (7-7-2, 6-3-2) entered Tuesday in third place, one point behind Felician. But the Golden Falcons scored in the 14th minute of each half while keeping the Cougars off the scoreboard. In the opening period, the hosts were the beneficiary of a Caldwell own goal, when Alysia Arcona's (Hackettstown, NJ/Hackettstown) cross into the box was deflected into the net by a Cougar defender at 13:08.

In the 59th minute, Arcona's corner kick found the head of teammate JoJo Pisani (Wyckoff, NJ/Hasbrouck Heights), who finished inside the near post. Felician junior goalkeeper Allie Couzo (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) earned her fourth shutout of the season. While credited with just two saves, Couzo showed solid decision-making on intercepting crosses and corner kicks

Robin Franchi (Sewell, NJ/Deptford) made two saves for Caldwell, which owned advantages of 10-7 in shots and 6-2 in corners.

Felician's eight conference victories match the school record.
