Women's Soccer Downed By Dowling In Tough Road Test

BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. – The Felician College women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the young season on Saturday afternoon, succumbing to host Dowling College, 3-0, in non-conference action at Golden Lions Field.

It took Dowling (3-1) until the latter stages of the contest to cash in on an eventual 36-6 advantage in shots. The game was scoreless at halftime despite the Golden Lions' 17-3 shot edge for the period. Felician junior goalkeeper Allie Couzo (Sayreville, NY) made 10 of her season-high 15 saves in the opening half.

In the 64th minute, Golden Lion junior Alexis Parotta (Centereach, NY) accepted a cross from teammate Lindsey Thompson (Centereach, NY) and put the ball in the bottom left corner of the net. Felician had missed on a 1 v. 1 opportunity against the goalkeeper approximately five minutes earlier. Parotta, who got off 11 shots, put the game away by tallying twice in the final seven minutes for a hat trick.

Dowling's Melissa Guglielmo (West Babylon, NY) earned the shutout with five saves. Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, NJ) topped the Golden Falcons (2-1) with three shots.
