ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Felician University women's basketball team cut a 16-point third-quarter deficit to five before falling to the University of Bridgeport, 77-63, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon on the Hennessy Center's Coach Baxter Court. The contest was the final one of the two day, four-team Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament, hosted by Dominican (N.Y.) College.

Freshman Sophia Guerrier (Waltham, Mass.) came off the bench to pace Felician (2-1) with 14 points, seven rebounds, and four steals in 20 minutes.

Bridgeport senior Sofia Ermeidou (Athens, Greece) led all players on the day with 22 points. Ermeidou made five three-point field goals, including three in a decisive stretch of the fourth quarter.

The Golden Falcons played from behind all afternoon, trailing for all but the first 64 seconds of the game. After exiting the first quarter with a 20-14 edge, the Purple Knights outscored Felician, 13-2, over the first six minutes, 15 seconds, of period two. The Golden Falcons cut a 17-point deficit to 11 before Bridgeport's Nicole Johnson (Newark, N.J.) nailed a three-pointer on her team's final possession for a 39-25 halftime lead.

A Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) lay-up to start the third period provided the Purple Knights with their largest spread of the second half. Bridgeport still led by 14 with 4:19 left in the third, but was outscored, 14-5, for the rest of the period. Felician senior Danelle Gibson (Bronx, N.Y.) scored six points in that stretch.

The Golden Falcons entered the fourth down, 53-47, and trailed by that same margin after a Marta Moix (Madrid, Spain) lay-up with 6:33 to play. But Bridgeport took control with an 11-3 run over the next 3:09, with nine of the points coming on Ermeidou trifectas. Felician never came closer than an 11-point deficit for the balance of the contest. Bridgeport made 8 of 14 fourth-quarter field-goal attempts (57.1 percent), including 5 of 7 from beyond the three-point arc.

Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) netted 13 points and Vonleh added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Purple Knights (2-2). Bridgeport senior Morgen Caution (Baltimore, Md.) scored nine points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Gibson and Marya Trapp (Red Bank, N.J.) (eight rebounds) tallied 10 points each for Felician.

Felician plays back-to-back games again on Thanksgiving weekend. The Golden Falcons travel to Franklin Pierce College on Saturday, November 25, and take on Southern New Hampshire University the next day on the SNHU campus.
