RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Several activities are planned around the final Felician University home basketball date of the 2016-17 season this Saturday, February 11, when the Golden Falcon women's and men's teams take on Holy Family University at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
Both Felician teams will celebrate Senior Day, and will honor their graduating seniors in pre-game ceremonies. The Golden Falcon women will mark the careers of two players – Success Edioma (Newark, N.J./Newark East Side) and Taylor Trotman (East Orange, N.J./University HS).
Additionally, the women's basketball team will attempt to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer and other women's cancers by observing Play 4Kay Day. The team will have an information table set up in the gymnasium lobby for both games, and will sell snacks with proceeds benefitting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. More information on the global Play 4Kay initiative is available at www.play4kay.org.
The Felician athletics department will also sponsor its Fifth Annual Basketball "Green-Out." Fans in attendance will receive Green-Out T-shirts while supplies last. Complimentary refreshments will be served in the cafeteria (one level below the gymnasium) from the end of the women's game until the start of the men's game.
The Golden Falcon men's basketball team will send off five seniors prior to its game on Saturday – Kennedy Chukwuocha (Willingboro, N.J./Medford Tech), Lamine Cooper (Willingboro, N.J./Medford Tech), Tim Massado (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth), Damiun Moore (Manchester, N.J./Manchester Township) and Bryant Webb (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial).
Admission is free for Felician faculty, staff, students and alumni with proper identification. Tickets for the general public will cost $5 for adults and $2 for senior citizens, children under 12 and visiting students, and will be available on the day of the event beginning at 12:15 p.m. One ticket gains admission to both games.
The Felician women, coached by Steve Fagan, and coach Ivan Lewis' Golden Falcon men will be looking to stave off elimination from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference playoff races.
