RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Rising college junior Marta Moix (Madrid, Spain/The John Carroll School [Md.]) will transfer to Felician University, and has signed an athletic financial aid agreement to play basketball for the Golden Falcons, Felician head women's coach Steve Fagan announced today.
A 5-foot-7 shooting guard, Moix played the last two seasons for Concord University, an NCAA Division II institution in Athens, W. Va. In 50 games (14 starts) for the Mountain Lions, she averaged 3.0 points and 1.6 rebounds in 15.4 minutes per game while shooting 87.5 percent at the free-throw line.
Moix, who intends to major in biology at Felician, has two years of college eligibility remaining.
"Marta plays with great energy on both ends of the court," said Fagan, who is entering his ninth season with the Golden Falcons. "She brings experience and a high 'basketball IQ' to our backcourt."
Moix is a 2014 graduate of The John Carroll School of Bel Air, Md. She spent two seasons with the Patriots after moving from her native Madrid, Spain, where she was a member of two Madrid state championship teams.
Moix joins freshman guard Arta Krasniqi (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy), freshman forward Safiyyah Lee (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional), sophomore guard Kayla Diaz (Clifton, N.J./International) and junior guard Shana Owen (Philadelphia, Pa./Carver) as scholarship newcomers to the 2016-17 Golden Falcons.
Felician is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Golden Falcons will be looking to bounce back from their tie for sixth place in the 2015-16 CACC North Division standings.
