ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Felician University women's basketball team was defeated by the host College of Saint Rose, 81-34, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at Nolan Gymnasium. Felician (1-12) was ending a 10-day competitive layoff.
Freshman guard Devin Fitzgibbons (Winslow, Maine) topped the Golden Falcons with eight points.
Felician's Hannah Johnson (Jersey City, N.J.) scored the game's first basket, but Saint Rose (7-4) talled the next nine points to take the lead for good. The Golden Knights led, 19-6, after one quarter, and led by as much as 27-8 before the Golden Falcons pulled to within 28-17. Felician settled for a 32-17 halftime deficit.
The second half belonged to the hosts, however. Saint Rose outscored the Golden Falcons, 28-9, in the third quarter, and 21-8 in the fourth, leading by as many as 50 points in the closing minutes.
Saint Rose shot 49 percent from the field, including 62 percent in the second half. The Golden Knights made 10 of 18 three-point attempts. Felician was held to 25-percent shooting, including just 3 of 24 from distance.
Golden Knight sophomore Brittani Stowe (Fort Washington, Md.) led all players with 18 points.
