RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Concordia (N.Y.) College shook off a poor shooting night to grind out a 51-39 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over host Felician University on Wednesday evening at Job Gymnasium. Concordia (3-6, 1-4 CACC) won for the second time in as many nights.
Concordia sophomore forward Hadiyah Black (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Collegiate) turned in game highs of 13 points and 16 rebounds. She was the only player on either team to score in double figures. Freshman center Remi Iwelu (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) produced season highs of 10 rebounds and six blocked shots to go along with seven points for Felician (1-9, 1-4).
The Golden Falcons trailed, 11-10, after one quarter, and 22-18 at halftime. Concordia took control of the game with an 11-2 run over the first five minutes of period three. Consecutive three-point field goals by Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) and Julianne Wilkinson (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook) gave the Clippers their largest lead of the night, 33-20. Concordia led, 42-31, after three quarters, and Felician never came any closer than an eight-point deficit the rest of the way.
The Clippers shot 29 percent from the field, but held Felician to a 27-percent mark. Concordia amassed a 57-39 rebounding advantage, including 22-9 on the offensive glass. Wilkinson scored nine points, and Clipper sophomore Brianna Hendrick (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream Central) grabbed 11 rebounds.
The game was played in one hour, 25 minutes.
