RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University fell behind, 19-2, midway through the second period of its 63-46 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball loss to host Bloomfield College on Saturday afternoon at the BC Gymnasium.
Freshman guard Hannah Johnson (Jersey City, N.J.) scored a season-high 11 points to top Felician (1-7, 1-2 CACC). Bloomfield junior guard Tianna Smith (Spring Valley, N.Y.) led all scorers with 14 points.
Felician shot 1 for 12 from the field and committed eight turnovers in the first quarter, but trailed only 10-2 at its conclusion. Bloomfield sophomore Jahneice Jaffe (Egg Harbor, N.J.) made a three-point field goal on her team's first possession of the second quarter, and the Bears extended to a 19-2 advantage on a Morgan Taylor (Paterson, N.J.) lay-up with six minutes, 37 seconds, left to play in the first half..
The Bears led by 18 points on two occasions in the second quarter before the Golden Falcons scored the last six points of the half to trail, 26-14, at halftime.
Bloomfield's edge hovered between 11 and 16 points throughout the third period, which ended with the hosts ahead, 43-28. The Bears led by as many as 20 points on three occasions in the final quarter of play.
Eliana Scanlon (New York, N.Y.) scored nine points for Felician, and freshman Bianca Muja (Montclair, N.J.) turned in six points and five rebounds off the bench. The Golden Falcons committed 25 turnovers, which the Bears turned into 25 points.
Iman Williams (Shreveport, La.) had 10 points and five rebounds as part of a balanced Bloomfield effort.
