Morris Named CACC Defensive Player Of The Week

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Ashley Morris (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 1, the CACC announced today. The honor was part of the final set of weekly basketball awards handed out by the CACC for 2014-15.

Morris was honored on the strength of her performance in her final career game, a 71-61 Felician victory at Concordia (N.Y.) College. Playing all 40 minutes, she grabbed 15 rebounds (13 defensive), blocked three shots, and made three steals. Morris helped the Golden Falcons hold Concordia to 33-percent shooting from the floor.

Morris also scored a career-high 34 points in the contest to conclude her time at Felician with 1,001 career points. She is eighth on Felician's all-time scoring list and first in rebounding (736).

Morris played in all 26 games for Felician this season, starting 25. She ranks fifth in the CACC in scoring (16.5 ppg), third in rebounding (10.2 pg) and fourth in blocks (1.2 pg). She is a 2010 graduate of West Orange High.

Also on Monday, Felician freshman guard Shyla Osmond (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll.

Felician is guided by seventh-year head coach Steve Fagan of Howell. Morris, Osmond and the Golden Falcons completed 2014-15 with a won-lost record of 6-20, and finished fifth in the CACC North Division with a 5-14 league mark.
