PHILADELPHIA – Felician College senior center Mary Chisholm (West Babylon, N.Y.) registered a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds, but the Golden Falcons were defeated by host Chestnut Hill College, 76-68, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Sorgenti Arena.

Chisholm made 9 of 12 field-goal attempts and shot 7 for 8 at the foul line. She added three assists and a steal in 38 minutes of action. Senior guard Olivia Gorczynksi (Parlin, N.J.) led Chestnut Hill (10-15, 8-10 CACC) with 19 points.

The Griffins, who never trailed, started off stingy on defense. The hosts opened up an 18-2 lead after 7 ½ minutes of play. CHC was ahead by as many as 17 points in the opening period before settling for a 37-24 halftime lead.

Felician (5-20, 4-14) tallied the first six points of the second half, including two buckets by Chisholm, to pull to within a seven-point deficit. The Golden Falcons got as close as 39-35 with 15:43 remaining on a three-point field goal by Eliana Scanlon (New York, N.Y.). CHC followed with an 11-1 run to open up some breathing room.

The Golden Falcons once again came four points away, 66-62, at the 2:35 mark. But after forcing a turnover, Felician was unable to convert, but a Scanlon three at 0:35 brought the visitors back to within 72-68. The Golden Falcons then turned the ball over on their next two possessions, and the Griffins were able to put the game away at the foul line.

Gorczynski led four Griffin scorers in double figures. Freshman Nina Mazzarelli (West Chester, Pa.) scored 17 points in 17 minutes off the CHC bench. Ashley Morris (nine rebounds) and Scanlon (five assists) finished with 19 points apiece for Felician.

The Golden Falcons complete their season with a 5 p.m. tip-off at Concordia (N.Y.) College on Tuesday.
