RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior forward Ashley Morris (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds despite the Golden Falcons' 89-67 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball loss to visiting Dominican (N.Y.) College on Tuesday evening at Job Gymasium.
Morris, who played the entire 40 minutes, shot 11 for 20 from the floor and 7 of 9 at the foul line. She added four steals and two blocked shots. Junior guard Deja Gabbidon (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) came off the bench to record 24 points, 11 rebounds and three steals in 28 minutes for Dominican (13-13, 11-6 CACC).
The Chargers used an 11-0 run late in the first half to open up a 12-point advantage, and were still ahead, 44-36, at halftime. Dominican then shot 56 percent from the field in the second half to gradually pull away. The final 22-point margin matched the visitors' largest of the night.
Dominican shot 50 percent for the game, including 10 for 23 (44 percent) from three-point range. Felician, meanwhile, was limited to 38-percent shooting from the floor (31 percent after halftime).
Senior center Mary Chisholm (West Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) totaled 12 points and five rebounds for the Golden Falcons (5-19, 4-13). Charger senior Lashonda Hathorne (Queens, N.Y./St. John's Prep) had 15 points and seven assists.
Chisholm, Morris and Sharnese Scott (Bowie Md./Elizabeth Seton) were honored by Felician in pre-game Senior Night ceremonies.
