RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Senior forward Ashley Morris (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) amassed 18 points and a career-high 19 rebounds to lead Felician College to a 75-55 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over visiting Post University on Wednesday evening at Job Gymnasium.
Felician (4-13, 3-7) won for the third consecutive game after beginning the season 1-13. Golden Falcon freshman guard Shyla Osmond (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) topped all players with 21 points, shooting 4 for 6 from three-point range. Junior guard Eliana Scanlon (New York, N.Y./Oak Hill Academy [Va.]) totaled 15 points, five assists and five steals for the hosts.
Felician, which never trailed, jumped out to an 11-2 edge after eight minutes of action. Still ahead by five with 5:46 left in the half, the Golden Falcons closed with a 15-3 flourish for a 32-15 halftime advantage.
The hosts continued to clamp down on defense early in the second period, opening with a 10-0 run to take full control. Felician took its largest lead, 59-26, on a Morris lay-up with 11:26 to play. The Golden Falcons held Post (5-13, 5-4) to 25-percent shooting from the floor, including 17 percent in the first half.
Junior guard Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y./Monroe College) paced the Eagles with 15 points and six rebounds. Teammate Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) added 11 points and eight boards. Felician junior Sierra McDuffie (Paterson, N.J./PCTI) came off the bench to record nine points and five rebounds.
Felician hosted "Green-Out" night and played in front of its largest home crowd of the season.
