ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Felician College women's basketball team concluded its stay at the 2nd Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament, hosted by Dominican (N.Y.) College, with an 80-48 non-conference loss to Molloy College on Sunday afternoon on the Hennessy Center's Coach Baxter Court.
Junior guard Eliana Scanlon (New York, N.Y.) led Felician (1-4) with 13 points, four assists and four steals. Junior forward Ally Leftridge (Melville, N.Y.) scored 19 points for Molloy.
The teams were tied, 8-8, after five minutes, 36 seconds, of action before Molloy (3-1) embarked on a 17-2 run over the next 6:10 to open up a comfortable lead. The Lions extended to a 32-13 edge with 6:26 to play in the period on consecutive Taylor Kenney (Wantagh, N.Y.) lay-ups, and led by as many as 20 before bringing a 39-21 bulge into intermission.
Felician never got closer than a 16-point deficit in the second half. A 15-2 Lion spurt turned a 49-33 game into a 29-point margin with 10:43 to go, and Molloy was up by as many as 37 points in the latter stages.
Molloy shot 47 percent from the floor and held the Golden Falcons to a 29-percent clip, including 0 for 11 from three-point range. Junior guard Alexia O'Connor (Centerport, N.Y.) netted 15 points for the Lions. Sophomore guard Aliyah McDonald (Hempstead, N.Y.) had six points, six rebounds, and seven assists in 19 minutes.
Ashley Morris (West Orange, N.J.) ended up with 11 points for Felician. Fellow senior Mary Chisholm (West Babylon, N.Y.) scored 10, and freshman center Treanda Foster (Bronx, N.Y.) had six points and a season-high 11 rebounds.
Felician hosts Caldwell University on Tuesday, and returns to Orangeburg on Dec. 16 to take on the Chargers.
