BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Felician College used balanced scoring and strong rebounding to earn a 72-59 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over host Concordia (N.Y.) College on Saturday afternoon at the Meyer Athletic Center. Felician (5-9, 3-4 CACC) has won four of its last five games.
Senior forward Trina Plummer (West Babylon, N.Y.) topped the Golden Falcons with 15 points, 15 rebounds, and three steals. Felician owned a 44-32 rebounding advantage for the day and nabbed a season-high 16 steals.
Que Lyles (Bronx, N.Y.) scored five points in a closing 7-1 run that gave Felician a 37-27 halftime advantage. The Golden Falcons then outscored Concordia, 7-1, over the first 3 ½ minutes of period two, and assumed their largest lead, 50-32, following a Lyles lay-up with 13 minutes, 41 seconds, to play in regulation. The Clippers (0-15, 0-8), came as close as a nine-point deficit at the 6:00 mark, but then went scoreless for nearly three minutes of game action, allowing the visitors to pull away.
Lyles shot 6 for 9 from the floor and tallied 13 points in 21 minutes off the bench. Jac'Quel Saunders (Trenton, N.J.) also scored 13 points, and Ashley Morris (West Orange, N.J.) finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Freshman Jessica Rosalbo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led Concordia with 14 points. Teammate Alyssa Dawson (Westwood, N.J.) totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Felician caused 27 opponent turnovers for the second consecutive game. The Golden Falcons held edges of 36-24 in the paint and 16-2 in transition points. Senior point guard Gisell Peguero (Brooklyn, N.Y.) directed the offense with five points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals.
