Barnette, Plummer Earn CACC Postseason Honors

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Destiny Barnette (Paterson, NJ/PCTI) has been named to the 2011-12 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball First Team, the CACC released today. The conference's 14 head coaches voted on the award winners. Felician sophomore Trina Plummer (West Babylon, NY/North Babylon) was an Honorable-Mention All-CACC selection.

Barnette, a 5-foot-6 guard, is an all-conference selection for the first time. In 24 games for the Golden Falcons, she is averaging 18.3 points, good for third in the CACC and 24th nationally (among NCAA Division II players). She has posted nine 20+ point games, and is also in the league's top ten in three-point field goals per game, three-point percentage, and steals.

A four-year starter, Barnette is sixth in Felician history with 1,077 career points. She is also among the top five in school annals in assists, steals, and three-pointers. She is the second consecutive Golden Falcon to make the all-CACC first team, joining Quay Baskerville in 2010-11. Barnette is a 2008 graduate of Passaic Tech.

"For four years we saw Destiny's improvement as an overall player," said Felician coach Steve Fagan. "But what stayed consistent was her competitiveness. She sets the tone for us on both ends of the floor, and sets the standard for the way we play defense."

Plummer has started all 26 games, mostly at small forward, and has posted 13.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. She also ranks third in the CACC with a steal average of 2.5. She has improved her averages from 8.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals as a freshman.

"Trina expanded her offensive game," Fagan said. "We've watched her game evolve, and seen her take on more of a leadership role as the season wore on.

The Golden Falcons (17-9, 14-5), the CACC North Division champions, host a first-round playoff game on Saturday at 7 p.m. against the University of the Sciences.

Felician has now had 13 student-athletes earn all-conference honors this academic year.
