NYACK, N.Y. – The Felician College women's basketball team forced 34 turnovers, rolling up a 43-10 advantage in points off turnovers, in its 85-51 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over host Nyack College on Thursday evening at Bowman Gymnasium.
Felician senior guard Destiny Barnette (Paterson, NJ), the CACC's leading scorer, continued her standout play of late with game highs of 24 points and eight rebounds. She added four of Felician's 25 steals. Golden Falcon sophomore Trina Plummer (West Babylon, NY) matched a career high with 22 points and also made four steals.
Felician (4-5, 3-1 CACC) used a 17-3 run in the latter stages of the first half to turn a one-point deficit into a 33-20 lead with 3:18 to play in the period. After taking a 39-28 advantage into halftime, the Golden Falcons scored the first 10 points of the second half to take full control. The Nyack deficit never again dropped below 19, and climbed as high as 36 in the waning minutes.
Sophomore Ashley Tallman (Rotterdam, NY) led the Warriors (0-6, 0-2) with 11 points. Felician sophomore Jac'Quel Saunders (Trenton, NJ) pickd up 10 points and teammate Gisell Peguero (Brooklyn, NY) totaled eight points and five assists.
The Felician defense committed only seven personal fouls on the evening. The Golden Falcons outscored Nyack, 23-5, at the foul line.
