Late Run Leads Women's Basketball Past Post, 80-74

WATERBURY, Conn. – Senior guard Destiny Barnette (Paterson, NJ) scored six points in the final two minutes, including the go-ahead basket with 1:52 to play, to lead Felician College to an 80-74 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over host Post University on Saturday afternoon at the Drubner Center.

After Post (2-5, 0-1) took a 72-66 lead with 2:53 to play on three consecutive baskets by Kelli Reynolds (Milford, CT), Felician scored the game's next nine points. A three-point field goal by Trina Plummer (West Babylon, NY) started the comeback, and Barnette had the last four points of the run. Post pulled to within 75-74 at the 0:45 mark, but the Golden Falcons made 5 of 6 foul shots to seal the victory.

Barnette finished with 20 points. Teammates Plummer (21 points, 11 rebounds) and Jessica Ford (Jersey City, NJ) (10 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks) each recorded their second consecutive double-double. The Golden Falcons received a season-high 11 points from Gisell Peguero (Brooklyn, NY), and Que Lyles (Bronx, NY) turned in seven points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

The Eagles led, 40-35, at halftime, but a back-and-forth second half saw Felician (3-4, 2-0) open the period with a 13-2 run for a six-point lead. The Golden Falcons led by as many as seven on two occasions before a 16-3 spurt gave Post the 72-66 edge that Felician overcame in the final three minutes.

Colleen Hanscom (Melrose, MA) came off the bench to lead the Eagles with 18 points, and Reynolds finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.
