Women's Basketball Earns Big Win In CACC Opener

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Sophomore Trina Plummer (West Babylon, NY/North Babylon) and senior Jessica Ford (Jersey City, NJ/St. Anthony) each posted double-doubles for Felician College in the Golden Falcons' 72-38 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory over visiting Concordia (N.Y.) College on Wednesday evening at Job Gymnasium. The game was the 2011-12 CACC opener for both schools.

Senior guard Destiny Barnette (Paterson, NJ/PCTI) led four double-figure scorers for Felician (2-4, 1-0) with 19 points. Plummer amassed 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds, and was nearly matched by Ford, who produced 13 points and 12 boards. Felician earned a 59-42 rebounding advantage.

The Golden Falcons came out of a defensive-minded first half with a 25-16 lead. Ahead 33-26 with 14:24 remaining, Felician outscored the Clippers, 33-6, over the next 11-plus minutes. Concordia was held to 19-percent shooting from the floor for the evening.

Junior Krystina Agard (Queens, NY/August Martin) led Concordia (1-6, 0-1) with 10 points and added nine rebounds. Teammate Chanessa Blakemore (Albany, NY/Albany) had eight points and 14 rebounds. Jac'Quel Saunders (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Catholic Academy) scored 10 points for Felician.
