OAKDALE, N.Y. – The Felician College women's basketball team concluded a two-day stay at the Dowling College Holiday Tournament with an 82-56 non-conference loss to Long Island University-C.W. Post on Sunday afternoon at Dowling Gymnasium. C.W. Post (5-1) has won five consecutive games.
Senior guard Destiny Barnette (Paterson, NJ) topped Felician (1-4) with 18 points. Sophomore forward Trina Plummer (West Babylon, NY) picked up 12 points and eight rebounds, and freshman forward Mary Chisholm (North Babylon, NY) (5-7 FG) came off the bench and posted season highs of 10 points and five boards for the Golden Falcons.
Felician was held to 33 percent shooting from the floor and committed 29 turnovers. The Pioneers held a 36-10 advantage in points off turnovers. The Golden Falcons were also outscored, 29-15, at the foul line, as CWP shot 83 percent at the charity stripe.
CWP led, 25-12, after 12 ½ minutes of action, and carried a 40-27 advantage into halftime. The Golden Falcons never came within a single-digit deficit in the second period, with the final 26-point margin matching the Pioneers' largest of the day.
C.W. Post sophomore guard Kenyatta Sears (Hampton, VA) produced game highs of 21 points and six steals. Teammate Samantha Kopp (Franklinville, NY) had 14 points and eight rebounds.
