No. 2 Bentley Too Much For Women's Basketball, 76-42

LOWELL, Mass. – Bentley University, the No. 2-ranked team in the national Division II women's basketball preseason coaches poll, pulled away from Felician College for a 76-42 non-conference victory on Sunday afternoon at Costello Athletic Center. The game completed both teams' two-day stay at the Northeast-10 Conference/Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Challenge, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Senior Destiny Barnette (Paterson, NJ) led Felician with 15 points. Junior forward Que Lyles (Bronx, NY) came off the bench to supply six points, eight rebounds and three blocks before fouling out.

Bentley (2-0) led, 35-21, at halftime, then scored the first five points of the second half. Barnette produced the game's next six points to pull the Golden Falcons within 40-27 with 16:01 to play, but Felician would get no closer. Leading 44-30 at the 14:23 mark, Bentley embarked on a 22-6 run over the next eight minutes. The final 34-point margin was the Falcons' largest lead of the day.

Sophomore forward Lauren Battista (North Easton, MA) topped Bentley with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Bentley owned a 52-31 rebounding advantage, including 24-10 on the offensive glass, and outscored Felician, 23-7, at the foul line. The Golden Falcons were held to 31-percent shooting and committed 30 turnovers.

Felician (0-2) scored the first four points of the game, but Bentley fired back with the next 13. The Golden Falcons countered with six straight points to pull within 13-10, but never got that close again, as the Falcons responded with a 9-0 spurt for a 22-10 advantage with 7:01 to play in the half.

Jac'Quel Saunders (Trenton, NJ) finished with eight points and five rebounds for Felician.
