RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Softball student-athlete Grace Keller (Hoboken, NJ/Holy Family Academy) has been named Felician College's recipient of the 2012 New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) Woman of the Year Award.
Keller and her fellow institutional and high school honorees were the guests of honor at the annual NJAIAW Woman of the Year luncheon on Sunday, run in celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Following this year's luncheon, held at Seton Hall University, each winner was recognized at halftime of the Pirates' women's basketball game against Syracuse University.
Keller owns a 3.41 grade-point average as a double major in elementary education and fine art. A three-time dean's list honoree and a two-year softball captain, she was a participant in a 2010 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. She is a 2008 graduate of Holy Family Academy of Bayonne.
"Grace has grown tremendously in all facets throughout her four years at Felician," said Lori Kwiatkowski, Felician's senior woman administrator and head softball coach. "I am honored to have witnessed her growth academically, spiritually, and athletically over her time here."
Competitively, Keller is a three-year starter who has played six positions for the Golden Falcons, and is the likely starting shortstop in 2012. She has 96 career base hits and is fifth all-time at Felician with 13 stolen bases.
