Whaley Named CACC All-Academic In Men's Cross-Country

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University sophomore men's cross-country student-athlete Mark Whaley (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) has been named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Fall 2017 All-Academic Team, the CACC announced today. Whaley earns the honor for the first time in his career.

In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic Team, recipients must have used a season of eligibility while participating in a CACC fall championship sport, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, be a second-year student-athlete at their current school, and have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher at the end of the immediate preceding term.

Whaley participated in track & field as a jumper in high school, and was converted into a distance runner in college. He participated in seven meets as a freshman and in two this season. He owns a career-best 8,000-meter time of 35 minutes, 24 seconds at the Paul Short Run on October 1, 2016.

Whaley carries a GPA of 3.95 as a computer science major.

Felician has now seen three student-athletes earn Academic All-CACC honors this academic year.
