(by Doug DeBiase, CACC Assistant Commissioner)

Felician College men's cross country standout Mike Secreti (Paramus, N.J.) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Student-Athlete of the Month for September, as announced on Monday by Commissioner Dan Mara.

Secreti earned the prestigious honor for his amazing success on the race course, success in the classroom and devotion to several community engagement initiatives. He becomes the first monthly award winner during the 2015-16 campaign, as the CACC recognizes a worthy individual each month from September through May during the respective school year.

Secreti was phenomenal on the cross country course throughout the month, highlighted by his first-place finish at the inaugural Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational on Sept. 19. He ran the 8,000-meter course in a blistering time of 26:43 to win the individual title out of a field of 93 harriers. He also turned in a fourth-place finish out of 121 competitors in a time of 28:43.6 at the Philadelphia Metro Championship on Sept. 12. He earned the CACC Runner-of-the-Week award on Sept. 21 after is first-place effort at the Fritz/Way race.

Secreti's success hasn't been limited to the 2015 campaign, as he also enjoyed a tremendous amount of success in 2014. He placed third at the CACC Championship to earn all-conference honors, while also earning the CACC Men's Cross Country Championship Top XV Award for producing the highest cumulative grade point average at the finals with a then mark of 3.969 in his major of psychology.

If that wasn't enough, Secreti also ran unattached at the 2015 CACC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship back in early May and won the 5,000-meter race with a first-place time of 15:49.99. Secreti has also produced an impressive statistic by placing among the top-10 in the individual standings in all 13 regular season cross country races during his remarkable career.

Secreti has not just achieved success in the athletic arena, but also in the classroom. In addition to his Top XV Award at last season's championship race, Secreti was named to the 2014-15 CoSIDA Academic All-District I First-Team for the sport of cross country/track & field. He was also named to the CACC Fall All-Academic Team in 2014. Secreti's GPA has risen even higher since claiming the Top XV last year, as he currently stands at a 3.985.

He is also a standout in the community through many charitable efforts. Secreti is a member of Felician's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the school's Campus Activities Board. He spent the summer of 2014 volunteering at a food pantry called "Center for Food Action" in Saddle Brook, N.J., and totaled nearly 60 hours of time sorting donations, stocking shelves and packing food for clients.
