RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College men's cross-country team appears in the second set of NCAA Division II East Region rankings, released on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association. However, the Golden Falcons, guided by 11th-year head coach John Brennan, have dropped two slots to No. 9.
Felician was tapped at No. 7 in the USTFCCA's preseason rankings in August, and again in the first set of regular-season rankings last week.
The shuffle at the bottom of the rankings comes on the heels of Felician's runner-up finish in the Philly Metro Small College Invitational on Sept. 22. In the teams' first head-to-head meeting of the season, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference rival Wilmington (Del.) University defeated the Golden Falcons by one point. Wilmington, the current No. 8, and LIU Post were the two teams that passed Felician in the rankings.
Three CACC squads are represented in the poll, with Philadelphia University checking in at No. 10.
Felician has won nine CACC championships in its 12-year history. The Golden Falcons completed 2011 with a No. 7 regional ranking, a school record for the end of a season. Felician next competes on Friday at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run.
