RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College senior Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Cross-Country Runner of the Week for the period ending Sept. 23, the CACC announced on Wednesday. Albano earns the honor for the second consecutive week and the 15th time in his career.
The latest honor for the 5-foot-8 Albano comes on the heels of his individual victory in the Philly Metro Small College Invitational, held on Sept. 22 at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia and hosted by Philadelphia University. He clocked a five-mile time of 27 minutes, 28 seconds, besting a field of 113 runners, and finishing 30 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. Albano won the Philly Metro meet for the fourth consecutive year.
Albano was an all-East Region performer and the CACC Runner of the Year in 2011. He was running his second race of 2012, after also winning the Monmouth University Invitational on Sept. 15. More information is available at http://www.caccathletics.org/sports/xc/2012-13/releases/XCWeekly-4.
Felician, which is ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Division II East Region, next competes Friday at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
