RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College men's cross-country team, guided by 11th-year head coach John Brennan, is ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Division II East Region, according to the first set of 2012 regular-season regional rankings released Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association.
Felician also was tapped at No. 7 in the USTFCCA's preseason rankings in August.
Felician repeated as Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference team champion in 2011, and earned a final regional ranking of No. 7, a school record. Five all-conference performers return from that squad, including CACC Runner of the Year and all-region honoree Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Township), now a senior.
The Golden Falcons have competed in two meets this season, and will run at the Philly Metro Small College Invitational on Sept. 22. Felician won that event in 2011.
Felician is the highest-ranked team in the region from outside the Northeast-10 Conference. It is one of two CACC squads in the poll, with Wilmington (Del.) University checking in at No. 10. The Golden Falcons have won nine CACC titles in their 12-year history.
