Albano, Kicha Voted Capital One Academic All-District

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College juniors Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock Township) and Tim Kicha (Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) have been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country First Team for District I in NCAA Division II, as coordinated and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Albano earns the award for the second consecutive year, while Kicha is a first-time Academic All-District honoree.  As First Team selections, both will move on to represent Felician on the Division II Academic All-America ballot.

While Felician does not offer varsity track & field, both runners excelled on the cross-country course and in the classroom while leading the Golden Falcons to the 2011 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) team championship. Albano was named the CACC Runner of the Year after winning the conference's championship meet on Oct. 23. It was his third individual invitational victory of the season. On Nov. 6, he earned all-region status by placing sixth at the NCAA Division II East Regional in Boston. A six-time CACC Runner of the Week, Albano carries a 3.69 cumulative grade-point average as an elementary education major. He is a 2009 graduate of Pequannock Township High.

Kicha was an All-CACC runner for the second consecutive year in 2011. He finished 8th at the conference championship meet with a 5-mile time of 28 minutes, six seconds. He broke 28 minutes on three occasions. Kicha placed 86th out of 178 at regionals, helping the Golden Falcons to a school-record seventh-place team finish. A criminal justice major, he maintains a GPA of 3.95. He is a 2009 graduate of Saddle Brook High.
