Latest Weekly Award Caps Decorated Season For Albano

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician College junior Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock Township) has been chosen as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Cross-Country Runner of the Week, the CACC announced on Tuesday. Albano has now won or shared that award six times this season.

Albano's latest honor comes on the heels of a sixth place finish out of 178 entrants at the NCAA Division II East Regional Championship on Sunday at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. He joined teammate James Vander Wiele (Pequannock, NJ/Pequannock Township) in becoming the first two runners in program history to be named NCAA All-Region.

Albano set school records for regional placement (6th) and 10,000-meter time (31:52). He led Felician to a seventh-place result out of 25 schools, the program's best team finish in an NCAA Regional meet.

Albano, the 2011 CACC Runner of the Year, finished in the top 10 in every race he enteretd this season. He earns the league Runner of the Week honor for the 13th time in his career. He is a 2009 graduate of Pequannock Township High.
