Albano Second, Felician Ninth At Monmouth

HOLMDEL, N.J. -- Junior Rob Albano (Pompton Plains, NJ) finished in second place out of 143 competitors, highlighting the men's race for Felician College at the Monmouth University Cross-Country Invitational on Saturday morning at Holmdel Park.

Battling Holmdel's steep hills and a field containing several Division I schools, Albano ran the five-mile course in 26 minutes, 30 seconds, among the top 10 times in program history. He crossed the line nine seconds behind individual champion Craig Hunt of Central Connecticut State University. Behind Albano and an 18th-place showing from junior Taylor Trumbetti (Montvale, NJ) (27:26), the Golden Falcons placed ninth in the team standings out of 14 teams.

Also scoring for Felician were senior James Vander Wiele (Pequannock, NJ) (38th, 28:04), junior Tim Kicha (Saddle Brook, NJ) (78th, 29:20), and freshman Stephen Omari (Cherry Hill, NJ) (84th, 29:41).

Felician's 192 points were 14 more than eighth-place Quinnipiac University and 41 better than Bryant University, which finished 10th. East Stroudsburg University took the team title with 63 points. Ten members of the Division-I Northeast Conference were among the field.
