BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Despite a late-game flurry by senior striker Adrian Sutcliffe (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England), the Felician College men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to host Bloomfield College on Wednesday afternoon at Watsessing Park.
In a wide-open offensive affair, the teams combined for 39 shots (21-18 Bloomfield). But Felician trailed, 2-0, until Sutcliffe made a takeaway in Bloomfield's 18-yard box and scored his fifth goal of the season with 11 minutes, six seconds, to play. Sutcliffe got off two more shots on goal in the remaining time, but both were saved by Deacon sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Hyde (East Orange, NJ).
Bloomfield (6-5-1, 4-2-1 CACC) received a goal in the 11th minute from Peter Beckford (Portmore, Jamaica) and carried the 1-0 edge into halftime. The Deacons padded their lead on a header by Jeffrey Dapaah (Newark, NJ) at 66:20.
Felician starting goalkeeper Rafal Krauze (Randolph, NJ) left the game due to injury with 28 minutes remaining, and was replaced by fellow freshman Anthony Tsouhnikas (Clifton, NJ). The duo allowed one goal apiece and combined for five saves. Hyde finished with 10 saves in the victory, the fourth in a row for the Deacons.
The Golden Falcons were led by Sutcliffe and Josh Delva (South Orange, NJ) with five shots apiece. Five of the seven losses this season for Felician (5-7, 2-5) have been by a one-goal margin.
