SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior midfielder Kevin Sinic (Leibnitz, Austria) scored with six minutes, 22 seconds, remaining in regulation to lift the Felician College men's soccer team to a season-opening, non-conference 1-0 victory over host Shippensburg University on Friday night at David See Field. The match wrapped up Day 1 of the Raider Classic tournament.
The opportunistic Sinic was the first to a loose ball on the left side of the box, knocking home his team-high third shot attempt of the contest. Shippensburg (0-1) came close to some late dramatics, generating a chance on a corner kick, but freshman goalkeeper Rafal Krauze (Randolph, NJ) saved a close-range shot from the Raiders' Derrick Roy (Seven Valleys, PA) with fewer than 20 seconds remaining to secure the victory.
Krauze posted a shutout in his collegiate debut, stopping four shots. Shippensburg generated more scoring chances than the Golden Falcons in the first half, with a 10-4 shot advantages, but put only three shots on goal. The Raiders led in shots for the contest, 13-10. Keeper Clay Sale (Fort Collins, CO) had four saves for the hosts.
Felician finishes play in the tournament with a Sunday afternoon match against the University of the District of Columbia. Kickoff time is 3 p.m.
