LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. -- Felician College junior Barry Tshouhnikas (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) tied for 23rd place at the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Golf Championship, hosted by Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday and Wednesday at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club. Felician finished 10th in the event as a team, following school-record sixth-place results in each of the last two years.
Tshounikas, the only Golden Falcon entrant who had played in the event before, produced a round of 85 on Tuesday on the par-72, 6,886-yard course. In a tie for 29th place after Day 1, Tshouhnikas shot 81 on Wednesday to move up six slots in the final results with a 22-over-par total of 166. He placed 20th in the CACC Championship as a freshman and 13th last year.
Tsouhnikas was the only Felician player to finish in the top half of the standings of the 55-player tournament. Senior Casey Phillips (Englewood, FL/Lemon Bay) was the Golden Falcons' No. 2 man despite making his collegiate debut. His total of 92-87-179 was good for 44th place. One stroke behind Phillips, in a tie for 45th, was sophomore Chris Zito (South Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) (90-90-180).
The Golden Falcons' team score of 371-375-746 was good enough to stay ahead of the host Griffins by one stroke and out of 11th place. Felician trailed the University of the Sciences (350-351) by 45 shots for ninth.
Wilmington (Del.) University won its second consecutive CACC title with a +39 score of 309-306-615, finishing 12 strokes better than runner-up Post University. Wilmington's Paul Tighe was the medalist with 76-71-147 (+3).
The 2012 CACC All-Tournament Team consisted of Wilmington's Tighe and Daniel Ott, Patrick McRae and Jeff Whiteside of Goldey-Beacom College, Post's Thomas Rees, and Jeff Schaller of Concordia (N.Y.) College.
