Golf Begins Springs Season Near Myrtle Beach
LORIS, S.C. -- The Felician College golf team teed off its spring season by traveling near Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Dowling College Southern swing on Saturday and Sunday at Diamondback Golf Course. Felician produced a team score of 413 in finishing ninth in the event.
The tournament was originally scheduled for 36 holes, but rain forced the stoppage of play after nine holes on Saturday. The event was then shortened to 18 holes, with the final nine played on Sunday.
Junior Barry Tsouhnikas (Clifton, NJ) led the Golden Falcon contingent with a 16-over-par round of 88, and tied for 33rd out of 53 entrants. Classmate Elliott Gdanski (Niagara Falls, Ontario) shot 93 (T-37th), and mid-year transfer Chris Zito (Hackensack, NJ) turned in a 105 (51st). Junior and first-year player Anthony Bizien (Hazlet, NJ) completed the scoring with a round of 127 (53rd).
Host Dowling College won the event with a 314, one stroke better than Post University. Brandon Moore of Dowling was the medalist with a 75 on the 6,907-yard course.
