RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will sponsor "Make-A-Wish Night" on Tue., Feb. 14, in conjunction with the Golden Falcons' home women's and men's basketball games against Dominican (N.Y.) College.
The event will serve as a benefit for the national Make-A-Wish Foundation as part of the NCAA Division II Make-A-Wish Campaign. Beginning prior to the start of the women's game at 6 p.m., Felician SAAC members will solicit donations and hold raffles to benefit the charity. The department of athletics will also donate all gate receipts from the doubleheader to Make-A-Wish.
Ticket prices for Tuesday are $5 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens. Members of the Felician community (faculty, staff, students, alumni) are admitted free with proper identification. One ticket provides admission for both the women's and men's games.
The Make-A-Wish foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. NCAA Division II student-athletes have raised more than $1.9 million for Make-A-Wish since establishing an alliance with the charity in 2003.
The Felician SAAC, led by staff advisor Ivan Lewis and president Josh Delva (South Orange, NJ/Columbia) of the men's soccer team, has already raised $600 this school year for Make-A-Wish during its "Ipad Madness" event in October. Later that month, Golden Falcon SAAC members participated in the North Jersey Walk for Wishes, a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey.
Felician plays its home basketball games at Job Gymnasium on its Rutherford campus. More information is available by contacting the athletics department at (201) 559-3333 or coach Ivan Lewis at LewisI@felician.edu.
