Despite Tello's 30, Men's Basketball Falls at Post

WATERBURY, Conn. – Felician College cut a 13-point second-half lead to one before falling to host Post University, 83-71, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Drubner Center. Senior center John Tello (Ridgefield Park, NJ) scored a career-high 30 points for Felician (0-6, 0-2).

The Golden Falcons trailed by as many as nine points in the first half before settling for a 37-36 halftime deficit. Leading 45-42, with 16:35 remaining in regulation, Post (1-5, 1-0) embarked on a 10-0 run for a 13-point edge. In just three minutes' time, however, Felician went on a 13-1 run, highlighted by a pair of Jimmy Schmitt (Elmwood Park, NJ) three-point field goals, to pull within 56-55 at the 9:56 mark.

The Eagles, however, methodically worked the lead back up to eight points as Felician missed its next seven shots from the floor. A three by Anthony J. Green (Jersey City, NJ) cut the visitors' deficit to 71-66 with 3:05 to play, but Post's Josh Lopez (Anchorage, AK) effectively ended the Golden Falcons' comeback hopes by answering with a three-pointer on his team's next possession. Felician never got closer than eight points behind in the final 2 ½ minutes.

Tello made 12 of 16 field goal attempts and added six rebounds. Teammate David Williamson (Bronx, NY) scored 14 points, and Schmitt posted season highs of 11 points, six assists and four steals.

Lopez topped Post with 22 points and added five assists. Reginald Holding Jr. (Newark, NJ) came off the bench to score 19 points and grab 12 rebounds for the hosts.
