RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Three Felician College baseball players – senior pitcher Brian Dudzinski (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South), senior shortstop Jimmy Simpson (Biscayne Park, FL/Coral Gables) and junior catcher Kevin Whitehead (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) – were named to the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Tournament Team.
The All-Tournament Team was announced at the conclusion of the CACC Championship Game on Saturday afternoon at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del. The team was selected by conference media relations staff. The complete all-tournament team can be viewed at http://www.caccathletics.org/sports/bsb/2011-12/releases/2012CACCFinalBaseball.
Dudzinski, a 6-foot-6 right-hander, started and earned the victory in Felician's tournament opener against Bloomfield College on Thursday. He gave up one unearned run on one hit over seven innings as the Golden Falcons prevailed, 5-1. In that game, Dudzinski set the school single-season strikeout record with 76.
Simpson led the Golden Falcons with a .467 batting average and .529 on-base percentage during his team's four games in the tournament. He had three base hits in each of his team's first two games in the event.
Whitehead was on base seven times in the four games with three hits and four walks while splitting time at catcher and designated hitter. He posted a .438 on-base percentage and drove in two runs.
Felician (27-24, 16-4) was the runner-up in the CACC Tournament, losing on both Friday and in Saturday's championship round to Wilmington (Del.) University. The Golden Falcons, who won the conference regular-season title, matched their best tournament finish. They were also second in 2006.
