RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Felician College freshman Chet Godfrey (Millville, NJ/Millville) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week, the CACC announced on Tuesday.
Godfrey, a 5-foot-11 right-handed pitcher, was named on the strength of his start against Mercyhurst College, the No. 19-ranked team nationally in NCAA Division II, last Friday in Lantana, Fla. In his first collegiate start, in a game played with metal bats, Godfrey pitched six shutout innings. He allowed three hits, all singles, struck out four batters and walked none. He was saddled with a no-decision when the Golden Falcons eventually lost the contest, 2-1.
On the season, Godfrey has appeared in five games for the Golden Falcons. He is 1-1 with a 4.30 earned-run average, and has walked just two batters in 14 2/3 innings. Opponents are hitting .278 off of him. Godfrey is a 2011 graduate of Millville High.
Felician is an NCAA Division II member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. The Golden Falcons have a 4-9 overall won-lost record heading into Thursday's game against Chestnut Hill College in Lantana.
