1/20/10 BASEBALL - Baseball Schedule Contains Early Tests
RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician College baseball team will play 10 games against teams which reached the 2009 NCAA Tournament, according to the 2010 schedule which was released today.

Felician has 53 games slated for this spring, all against Division-II opponents. The season begins with a four-game weekend in Petersburg, Va., on Feb. 13-14. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference season has been cut from 27 to 20 games, with the conference tournament expanded from four to six teams.

While in Myrtle Beach, S.C., for a five-game weekend trip Feb. 26-28, the Golden Falcons twice face 2009 Division II World Series qualifier West Chester University, ranked No. 9 in the Collegiate Baseball national preseason poll. A twinbill against Adelphi University and a single game with Franklin Pierce University, both NCAA East Regional participants a year ago, highlight a 10-game trip to the Palm Beach Challenge in Lantana, Fla., from Mar. 6-14.

“Our schedule is never easy,” said Felician head coach Chris Langan, who is entering his seventh season. “After spring break we will have a good idea of where we stand with the best teams in the East Region. We believe we have the talent and depth to meet the challenges in our schedule.”

The Golden Falcons were 24-24 last year and missed the CACC Tournament by one game. Felician plays home conference doubleheaders with NCAA qualifiers Wilmington (Del.) University and Dominican (N.Y.) College on Mar. 20 and Mar. 30, respectively.
