NEW CASTLE, Del. -- A goal with four minutes, 49 seconds, left in regulation lifted the host Wilmington University men's soccer team over upset-minded Felician College, 2-1, under a light rain Saturday afternoon at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex. Wilmington is the No. 14-ranked team in the most recent national NCAA Division II coaches poll. On the game-winning sequence, Wilmington junior Chris Simm (Ontario) took a shot which was saved by Felician goalkeeper David Lo Bue (Elmwood Park, NJ). However, Simm was the first player to the rebound, and got a second shot past Lo Bue. The Wildcats (17-2, 10-0) locked up the No. 1 seed for the upcoming CACC Tournament. Wilmington opened the scoring in the 14th minute on a goal by Nickalus McDonald (Philadelphia, PA). However, at 19:17, Golden Falcon sophomore Carlos Canido (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) bent a free kick into the net to knot the match. Lo Bue made six saves for Felician (3-12-1, 1-8-1). Boxscore |
