PETERS
LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. -- Led by a third-place finish from junior Joe Peters (Barnegat, NJ), the Felician College golf team defeated two of three opponents at a four-team dual match hosted by Philadelphia University on Monday afternoon at the ACE Club. The round marked the second event and first dual-match competition for the Golden Falcons in the 2008-09 season.

Peters produced a nine-over-par total of 81 for 18-holes, heading Felician's team score of 344. The Golden Falcons edged the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia by two strokes, and also defeated Chestnut Hill College, which shot 417. Only the host Rams' four-man total of 339 bettered Felician on the day. The Golden Falcons tied the school record for dual victories in a season, and defeated USP for the first time in program history.

Peters, playing on a tender ankle from a soccer injury suffered a week earlier, was tied for the individual lead after the front nine holes. He and Scott Cahayla (Ringwood, NJ) of USP both went out in even-par 36, but both players shot 45 on the back nine to tie for third out of the 20 golfers. Felician received an 84 (T-5th) from sophomore Joe Leardo (Belleville, NJ), and junior Rob Young (Glendale, NY) shot 85 and finished 8th. The No. 4 man was junior Jason Smith (Gibbstown, NJ) with a 94, good for 14th.

Jason Franck (Elverson, PA) of USP took medalist honors with a 79.
